The ONA, Gacha = Gacha by 77 star have only been around 2 weeks and it has already attracted people to actually spoof the Animation.
Created by NCH Animation or Ref, famed for the XEDO animation, have created a spoof of the original animation, Gacha=Gacha, hoping to spur an improvement of the animation’s standard. He has posted the animation onto Sgcafe, and event have a side by side comparison done by a friend posted.
Named Gocha = Gocha, the spoof uses the original dubbing of Gacha = Gacha but with draft drawing to do the animation, taking 1 night 2 days to complete the remake and 1 cup of coffee.
However Ref have personally posted messages at the front and the end of the “Remake” insisting that he is not mocking the production staff but encourages them to do a better job.
Ref have also leave behind this for the 77 Star’s Production Staff
my last closing words. I hope I did not offend any of 77star’s production staff and whoever who worked on this animation. its something that I did out of my good will and my passion for animation.with that, i look forward to your comments on my remake.
Prior to making the “remake”, Ref made a proper critic of the what he thought about the first episode of Gacha = Gacha
(This is all to the first episode, i have not seen the others)
1) one major flaw to this anime is that the Background is inconsistent. its like 5 different people work on it having diff styles, the first scene, we have very good proper Japanese style BG, then suddenly, the BG becomes like a 3D render in the plane. then suddenly, Changi airport gets drawn in a totally different style.2)very bad framerate for the OP and some scenes… this isnt acceptable at all since its probably a technology flaw that could be easily corrected.
3) Motion tweening of parts as inbetweens…. if this was a flash animation, I wouldnt mind at all, but given this is probably done in some animation software, yet motion tweening was use as inbetweens for keyframes makes it so “unprofessional” the air stewardess head nodding made me cringe badly, its so unnatural to see her head just move like an still image.. the animators still not proficient with frame by frame eh?
4) I dunnoe how to put this, but many scenes were very “Empty” or flat. a very good example is when the 2 stewardess were standing at the door to greet her… they could had done it in a diff view point or something. and i think theres too much full body shots of the characters, making very unintresting views, ie, you always see the character’s full body.
like, the Air stewardess greeting scene could had use a 1/4 bust shot with more detail of their face at the view’s corner and greeting her, instead of showing 2 full body image of the stewardess.
well, that is all i could say…. I see if i can make myself watch episode 2(Which I hope it improves), cause after episode 1 I am really turn off and uninterested to continue watching due to the cringe worthy VA and the shoddy animating.
(if all the episodes are of episode 1 quallity, then I can say we really still long way to go in local 2D animation)
Lets hope 77 Star is able to learn from what Ref have pointed out and improve on their already 30000 hit Gacha = Gacha.

Yeah, I know people working in 77-star and they have the same views about the animation quality. Apparently all the people at the top care about is trying to rush out episode after episode with little care about the quality. Btw the software that they used is Flash. Good eye you have, to notice the motion tweening.
I think the problem lies with the producers/management. The animators and artists have done all they can (doing OT everyday) but they’re not given enough time for their talents. There is barely enough people working on the project as it is.
As someone working in the animation industry, I have to say that it’s not practical doing 2D animation in Singapore. For the price of 1 Singaporean, you can hire 3 highly skilled and passionate animators in China. The best way is to do pre and post production and Singapore and outsource the production (which is the most tedious process) to cheaper countries. This is what many Japanese anime companies have been doing these days.
