Today’s Briefing content

*This afternoon just outside the auditorium, Sp LifeArts held the Club briefing for this year.

First up, we did a introduction to the club’s committee.

Manga And Animation Department

Followed by a brief talk about the manga class, by our new manga instructor and the Manga And Animation Department’s head.

A summary of what they said:

• Manga Class will be held on Wednesday, timing at 3:30pm to 5:30pm.
• Basics* will be taught during the manga drawing class.
• Advance** class will alo be taught concurrently during the class.
• The course fee for both will be $10 for the whole course.
• There will be a few CG lessons at the end of the course.
• The participant will be able to have their own character design by the end of the course.

Basic* For the beginners who don’t know who to draw manga drawing. Starting from the head to the leg, then the cloths

Advance** For those who already know how the basic of drawing manga and able to create a character, the course is to refine the art style, background and colouring of artwork.

Plamo Department

After that, the Plamo Department took over and they are kind enough to compile something for me

Here are the basic details about the modeling course that we will be conducting.

What is the course about?

In the basic course, you will learn the following skills:

Cutting the part away from the “runner”
Removal of the nib
Sanding
Cementing
Priming
Painting with an airbrush
Masking
Emunaneling
Decaling
Application of decals

How much is the course?

The basic course fee is $45 and the beginner airbrush is $40. You will also need to get your own set of tools (art knife, cutters, cement, satay sticks, blu tack) and a new model kit.

How long is the basic course?
Well, it really depends on your detemination, your ability to master the skills and the model kit. Usually, it can take from two months to a semester to complete your first model kit. But, some people may be able to complete the course by June.

The lessons are catered to each individual, so its a case by case basis.

What stuff does the basic course fee cover?

It covers six bottles of Mr Colour paint, One bottle of Mr surfacer primer, Thinner, Gunmetal paint, various finishes, use of compressor, emaunel paints for panel lines, use of softner, sandpaper.

How do I get my tools?

We will be conducting a field trip to Sunshine plaza next wednesday 14 may, where you get some of your tools and at the same time, visit some great model stores. ( Of course, the anime shop is right opposite too…)

What happens after I complete the basic course?
Well, that’s really up to you to decide! There are many advanced techniques that you can choose to learn such as shading and diorama work!

Where and when are classes conducted?

Classes are conducted on wednesdays and saturdays. Wednesday classes are from 3.15 pm to 5.30 pm while saturday classes are from 10.00 am until we feel like going home…

There are two locations where we might conduct lessons- studenthub@Moberly and T15. Moberly is for dry weather and T15 is our backup in the event of rain.

Accessories Hobbyist, Chinese Calligraphy and Water Colours

Regarding the Accessories Hobbyist, Chinese Calligraphy and Water Colours, We are currently recruiting members.

Accessories Hobbyist and Chinese Calligraphy, for the moment have no instructors but have plenty of materials and reference books, when the number of interested party increases, more option would be made available. Members of the club, interested can use the materials and reference book available.

Those who wants to join the Accessories Hobbyist, Chinese Calligraphy and Water Colours department, the club’s membership fee is $7.

Camp

The camp’s announcement comes after that and we practically said what is stated here. But here are the details.

Camp Date: 9, 10, and 11th of May 2008
Time: 6pm
Meeting Location: FC5
Camp Fee: $15

Come to the club house and get the indemnity form if you are interested in join, well PLEASE JOIN US!!!

Registration

For those who wants to join you can email us and we will replay with an online registration form, to sign up for the club, but that is for Singapore Polytechnic Students only. The members of the respective course will be informed by SMS and/or email. Payment for the course can be paid during the class, or those interested in Accessories Hobbyist, Chinese Calligraphy and Water Colours, can make payment directly to the club at the clubhouse at FC5220.
