DS games for the Holiday

A member of the forum, wildfalcon have wrote a few words regarding a few games he is playing on his beloved DS. And after the jump is some the good games he played with a small review for each.

The grammar might not be correct but as long as you can understand right?

1st good game I played this month is Fire emblem remake: Sword of light vs dark dragon, its more fun compared to gba(GameBoy Advance) that 3 easy mode FE(Fire Emblem) but it look like shit though the graphically.

I have only played FE1 in FE3(3 is 1+3) compare to the previous version I’ve played I find the remake slightly harder as stats growth is very bad this time, but they have introduced some new systems like class change(not promotion), WIFI store and allowing random stranger to join your gang when to many character die.

Game Play

I play through the game twice once on normal and once on the 2star difficultly with only female characters and found that the class change and WIFI store quite imbalance, class change can help you get some stats growth (e.g. priest for magic resist) you wanted and online store can get you nice items, something (*hero weapon) early at the beginning of the game some more. The stranger member I never really touch in normal mode due to no deaths, thus in 2star mode I let all non-girl character kiss floor but from what other player said the stranger is quite imbalance and they are, you know disposables, LOL.
Oh yeah, this time the new stage that’s not found in the original entry, requirement is to have dead character and those stage will give you new strong character with shit growth, more disposables.
WIFI battle got corrupted around 8/14 everyone use hex character now but before that not bad I would not said good compare to advance war though.

There is also 3 kingdom sky this month the gameplay is the same, but they improved the AI a bit and I find the new story mode a bit difficult, needing to leave cards behind to defend the others, a bit hard, forces you to use a lot of card instead of standard deck, kind of disgusting. Cleared the 1st game, but don’t know if I would do the same this time.
Bangai-O Spirits

I don’t know why I wait for the English edition of this game maybe not enough love liao. It’s an Action puzzle game? Anyway it’s done by treasure so it’s a guaranteed fun game.
I play through the treasure best sets of map very fun I say, if you don’t mind the looks, which is kind of crap for sprite and stuff. The weapon is not much different from the Bangai-O(no spirits) I play on dreamcast, very ownage game Time freeze ,reflect, baseball bat and shield are all still there. BTW this is 1 of the game I played that will lag the DS, I did it by using the ultimate attack when I got surrounded by bullets, then got 100 size 4 missile, result = screen freeze.  Holy shit. This game is only 8MB so it’s good as permanent game on my card. Tutorial story is fun and can learn about all the weapon and ultimate attacks you have.

Square Enix, Sigma Harmonics...

Before lightning 11, I played Sigma Harmonics don’t really like the game (had no good impression in the 1st place). The game is too FF13 le, as in act cool but the problem is they acted but don’t look cool… Character design for main character I find quite nice though. The game is more like detective game then a RPG, like Ace attorneys. Too bad all in Japanese and I don’t understand it, making it hard to play though with the problem of too act cool in most game sense. RPG factor of this game I find is fail, very boring and random battle got load screen… GG…
Okay, now for the game I feel every DS owner should play Lightning 11.

Inazuma Eleven or Lighting 11

The official site got very nice trailers demo of the game that can be found in professor Layton 2 if you know the game. This game is a Sport-S.RPG, I think, its soccer game that work a bit like RTS with pauses to make choices.
Game play of lightning 11 is erm nice, I said you got ultimate attacks in this game and element for characters being hill, fire, wind, forest. There is also combine attack in the game most importantly the control of the game. You get to control multi player on the field at a time, you can get your striker to the position you want while your defender get the ball back.
There are 2 types of battle in this game, tournament and random battle. Tournament is 11vs11 1 hour (more like a long 1min) match to see who score more like most games. Random is 4v4 15min (15s) usually to score 1 goal or get the ball from other team to win.

You train your player going to friendly or tour matches, random battle, learn ultimate attacks and fitness training which spends money. This game also works like football manager you get to steal other club members and even other school player O_O. Some way or another, those people will transfer to your school.
Even though officially they say there’s 1000 player for you to recruit but after looking at who we have in the school, I’d say maybe only around 100? out of the 1000 members is good the rest is not fit to play soccer, anyway there are enough storyline character for you to use and the other school soccer teams usually gets good member to recruit compared to your school. Of course if you can spend money, training then anyone can be strong.

Game Play, how it looks like

Played until now I felt that the game may start to get boring after awhile, as currently the teams I am fighting is quite weak and once I got the tactics to score, it is kind of repetitive, hopefully it is not like that throughout the game. Random battle is a bit extra too I feel it is just  too random >.>.

Lol I know it may sound lame, but to me the storyline is like captain tsubasa+H2+shao lin soccer.
There is a 3 man combine attack from the empire, that look like black tri star maybe? The Empire University looks like a Zeong some more LOL. They have cool(lame?) background stories too, the mystery soccer team that their school have 40year ago, the legendary Inazuma kick secret recipe of combine attack, a secret soccer training facility under the statue in school.
Ok maybe not too much spoilers, take a look at the trailer to get some rough idea if interested. Though I don’t know Japanese but I can see well what is going on and guess what happened, making up a very simple story that is good.

Game Play

Presentation for the game is nice I’d say, it’s at a comfortable level a lot of anime sense at the beginning nice opening music. Ultimate attacks look strong, LOL, very old school but I can’t seem to skip the 3D animation for the ultimate attacks which make the game kind of draggy. The sprite of players on the field sometime is a bit hard to identify, for the not so obvious members I used. But overall the game looks nice and sound great.
